Hinkler Hall of Aviation

The Hinkler Hall of Aviation is a significant iconic project of national importance honouring the nation’s most famous Pioneer Solo Aviator, HJL (Bert) Hinkler, born in North Bundaberg on 8th December 1892.

The Hall of Aviation display will highlight 1933 where Bert Hinkler died on Mt Pratomogno on 7th January 1933. Part of that display will be a de Havilland DH80A Puss Moth, the type being flown by Bert at the time of the fatal accident.

The inclusion of this aircraft in the display is significant – it is one of only 3 left in the world of the 284 aircraft (including 25 built in Canada) that were built between March 1930 and March 1933.

The aircraft has been acquired from an aircraft collector/restorer in Victoria and is in the final stages of restoration. The aircraft will arrive in Bundaberg in about one month’s time where the final stages of restoration will take place, hopefully in time for the aircraft to be included in the museum display at the official opening of the museum.

Funding to complete the purchase of the aircraft, and the cost of this restoration is now needed to ensure the display is complete and the aircraft can be displayed in the best possible way.

Coles Engineering

Coles Engineering has been involved with the Horticultural and Agricultural industries since its business began in 1988.   Based in Childers, primarily our activities were mainly related to the manufacture and repair of farm machinery for the Sugar Industry.  This led to the development and manufacture of Sugar Cane Side Tipper Bins which were sold throughout Australia.  This ultimately led to units being specifically designed and exported to Japan.

We have been involved in designing and manufacturing various types of machinery for the Nursery industry, which are the Quikshot Dibbling Machine, a machine mounted dibbler that is used in potting and re-potting operations primarily in commercial nurseries and the Quikshot Handheld Fertiliser Injector/Topdress Applicator which has the ability to dispense slow release fertiliser directly to the roots of potted plants, and garden shrubs and trees. The Quikshot Topdress Applicator will deliver fertiliser above the soil. We have also now developed a Quikshot optional Flexyhose, which when hung around the neck will hold up to 5kg of fertiliser, designed for more commercial growers

Dementia Activites

Dementia Activities is an Australian business built on innovation and excellence in product design and delivery.  Our product lines include our patented Busy Day Activity Aprons, Busy Day Activity Boxes, and Reminiscence Photo Books.  All of these products have been developed and designed by business owner, Natalie Sell, an experienced dementia educator who was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in Innovative Aged Care in 2004.

In Dementia Activities, Natalie has developed practical activities solutions for people living with dementia that support person-centred care in an accessible and cost-effective manner.

Activities resources for people with dementia have often been childish and have contained items that are imitations of the real object.  Dementia Activities products are all carefully selected to ensure that all components are genuine items which will be familiar to people living with dementia and are not simply children’s products which have been repackaged.  These unique products are prepared to strict specifications to ensure that any risks associated with their use are minimised

Eidsvold Siltstone

Eidsvold Siltstone is a fine grained quartz/kaolin rich sandstone which was discovered in a road cutting in February 2000. It is mined from an ancient (204 million year old) Triassic freshwater lake bed that is now exposed as a low lying hill at Lochaber Creek on the Burnett Highway halfway between Eidsvold and Mundubbera.  The stone’s uniqueness is attributed to its colour, strength and exotic cross flow texture has drawn attention from the stone industry nationally and internationally.

The priceless Eidsvold Siltstone Geological Formation now yields world class tiles, cladding bricks, sculptoring blocks, tumbled pebbles and aggregate produced in a totally chemical and waste free environment.  This resource when exploited to its full potential will become the pride and a showpiece for the Central and North Burnett District.

We apply the latest technologies and farming techniques to these select industries and create economies of scale in production and marketing.  We also seek value chain integration in these industries through strategic alliances and investments in infrastructure as well as processing and marketing.

Since 2000, Timbercorp has grown to become Australia’s largest horticultural producer.  We produce almonds, olive oil, citrus, avocados, mangoes, table grapes, glasshouse tomatoes and garlic, across farms in every State of Australia.

In Queensland specifically we operate around 1,100 hectares across several properties near Bundaberg that produce avocados, calypso mangoes and citrus, and a 200 hectare  calypso mango orchard near Dimbulah.

Our farms are supported by a network of relationships and investments in the value chain.  In Queensland, our partners our One Harvest, Agri Exchange (formerly Chiquita Brands South Pacific) and Simpson Farms.

We also recently formed CostaExchange a joint venture with the Costa Group, Australia’s leading marketer of horticultural products.  This year, CostaExchange secured a controlling position in Chiquita Brands South Pacific, a major banana producer and marketer with some major investments in Queensland.

Timbercorp has funded this expansion over the past twenty years by attracting and managing $1.7 billion from 18,000 retail and wholesale investors from around the country and internationally.
