Australian Traveling Fishing Show
An exciting 12 metre long, 1.2 metre wide and 1.6 metre deep, 14,500 litre aquarium glass-sided semi trailer filled with water, natural environment, and some of Australia's most enticing game fish, including the famous Barramundi.
The shows are both educational and entertaining. Experienced fishing pros will be conducting fishing seminars from on top of the tank, offfering demonstrations of various types of sport fishing equipment, and showing all phases of how a fish is caught, how a lure will move in the water, and how different fish react.
Here visitors can receive expert information from experienced anglers as they watch various seminars conducted throughout the show. Watch in amazement as some of the best anglers in this country share their secrets and get the fish to react right before your eyes!
Harvey Norman Electrical Celebrity Chefs with the NewsMail's Shirley Baldwin
Come and see 5 local personalities (yet to be finalised) cook up some tantalising dishes under the guidance of Shirley. They may not have their own television shows or line of kitchen utensils, and they probably can't shuck an oyster and dice a carrot at the same time. However, the cooks who will participate in the Harvey Norman Electrical Celebrity Chef at Agro-Trend 2006 will impress visitors by preparing really easy, REAL meals.
At the end of the last session on Saturday, all the appliances used and supplied by Harvey Norman Electrical, were auctioned off and the proceeds donated to charity. And of course, taste-testing of each celebrity chef's creation was available after each session.

Dog Agility Demonstrations
A first ever event for our Field Days and it promises to be a real winner for the families who visit Agro-Trend on Saturday 6 this year.
Agility is a team sport where the handler is in charge of strategy and their dog is responsible for the athleticism. Dogs leap over hurdles, power through tunnels, zip through a slalom of upright poles and scale ramps of different sizes. The aim is to find the balance between control of the dog and the speed of the performance. Scoring is based on faults, similar to equestrian show jumping. A dog that completes the obstacles correctly within the set time will ear a Clear Round. Dogs then earn titles when they achieve a set number of clear rounds.
Demonstrations will be held continuously during the course of the day with two competing teams courtesy of Fraser Coast Agility Dogs Club. Each team comprising of dogs ranging from toy size through to giant breeds and varying levels of competency.

Bob McLean
The most enduring voice of Agro-Trend - PA announcer Bob McLean - is back in 2006 to make sure nobody misses a moment of the action.
Bob McLean was the man behind the microphone at Agro-Trend for 24 years until 2003, when he had a long-deserved break. However, Mr McLean is looking forward to once again being involved in Agro-Trend and lending his years of public speaking experience to the event.
Although he now resides in Logan, south of Brisbane, Mr McLean was a long time Bundaberg resident. Mr McLean lent his smooth voice to a number of private and community events - from being a trackside commentator at Carina Speedway to providing poolside New Years Eve entertainment Don Pancho Resort in Bargara.
At Agro-Trend, Mr McLean's task will be to keep visitors abreast of the latest information on Agro-Trend attractions, provide information on products, reunite lost property and their owners and perhaps even children with their parents.
To make sure you don't miss out on anything, keep you ears open for Bob McLean - at Agro-Trend.
HeartStart Program
A successfull HeartStart program at Agro-Trend 2005
A great team effort saw the HeartStart stand at Agro-Trend provide just over 400 people with heart and blood pressure checks. We also distributed 200 health show bags containing information on HeartStart, cardiovascular disease, stroke, good nutrition and heart health. A "Monduran" mandarin kindly donated by Jim Mullett was also placed in each show bag.
A number of people were identified with undiagnosed hypertension. Of those completing the cardiovascular disease (CVD) lifestyle risk assessment about 10% were at excessive risk of CVD, 70% at high risk, 15% moderate risk and 5% low risk. The main CVD risk factor identified was poor nutrition with only a few people achieving an adequate intake of vegetables. A majority of people were not engaging in sufficient physical activity to achieve cardiovascular benefits. A majority of people were also overweight with a BMI over 25.
Thanks to Tracey Schouten, John Gamlin, Annette Cousins, Jenny Hinds, Emma Shears, Lorna Marcus, Ted Richardson, Alan Spencer and Sharon Rowe for helping make it all happen and for the success of the HeartStart stand at Agro-Trend 2005.

THE APPRENTICE BULLOCKY
|
The paint chipped ledge above the fire was where it always lay, I know because he placed it there when grandma passed away. Though ragged and now water stained, it held his life you see; that album full of photographs he often shared with me.
Each picture told a wondrous tale, which granddad told with zest and though he stretched the truth at times, I loved those stories best. My fav'rite was about the year he drove a bullock team from Maitland to the border town of Gundy it would seem.
"That year dad made the journey north with Ma and all the kids, I was the eldest, at the time, of all his billy lids. Apprentice bullocky I was and worked along with dad; deliv'ring stores on two large drays pulled by two teams he had."
"A motley lot of beasts they were, though each had roles to play; the polers, pins and body beasts and leaders pulled that dray. I fought the flies and blist'ring sun and choked on thick red dust and natur'lly I learnt to swear, much to my Ma's disgust."
"I learnt to bellow crude commands and 'ply the greenhide goad, whilst taking time to clear the dust by spitting on the road. The neck of each beast bowed down low beneath its wooden yoke, but when the teams were bogged right down, it was no flam'in joke."
"Despite the many obstacles that near brought us undone, I'd managed to get through them all; that's all except but one. Till then I felt I'd pulled my weight and clung to that belief, but when we reached the Whelan Creek my theory came to grief."
"The McIntyre had run a bank, which filled the Whelan Creek, and did not look like dropping for at least another week. Dad didn't plan on staying put, so took to looking 'round; another way of getting through was what had to be found."
"We searched for hours along its bank, then found this giant tree, which towered some three hundred feet, but hollow as can be. The girth was darn gigantic lad, though only one foot thick, then dad revealed how that old tree would surely do the trick."
"For hours dad gathered fire wood and placed it 'round its girth, inspiring Ma and all us kids to do our two bob's worth. Dad's theory was if he could fell that tree across the creek, we'd walk the teams right through at dawn. Hang waiting 'round a week."
"By morn the girth was all but gone, dad's wedges did the rest; and with his kelly struck them home; his theory passed the test. The old tree creaked and gave a groan then crashed on to its side, across the creek just as dad planned while we watched on with pride."
"Within the hour dad walked his team into that hollow tree; us kids and Ma we watched in awe. It was a sight to see. Dad said to give him half an hour then I should follow suit and though the team showed nervousness, we followed in pursuit."
"Dad safely out the other side then waited patiently, expecting any moment-like to see the team and me. But when a half hour passed on by, he figured something wrong and thought I should be out by now; what's taking him so long?"
"He set back off into the tree to have a look about, though couldn't find a sign of us so thought he'd cooee out. I heard the echo in the dark and cooeed back to him, till finally dad found us all, stuck up its only limb."

'Anon' Woman's Fashion
Ben Smith is best known for his earlier collections under his own signature. After graduating from UTS in 2001 having sold his graduate collection to the prestigious store ‘Browns’ in London the Ben Smith collection was born. First presented as part of the New Generation Group show at MAFW 2002; Pavement magazine said the ‘collection showed glimmers of greatness’. He continued to build his label interspersed with various freelancing assignments. In 2004 he presented his first solo show at MAFW, with the London trade paper ‘Drapers Record’ calling it ‘the most original collection of the week.’ In 2005 he opened a small boutique and presented his spring summer 06 collection there with Harpers Bazaar declaring him ‘the one to watch’. After closing the boutique in 2007 and spending 6 months in NYC Ben returned to Australia to begin work on the ‘Anon.’ label.
The focus on the ‘Anon.’ collection is timeless clothes that are chic and effortless. Harking a return of understated elegance, with plays on modern classics like the shirt-dress, wrap dress and wide legged pant. The collection is carefully considered and nuanced to flatter women, featuring beautiful fabrics that fall and move with the wearer. The success of the collection lies in the ability of the pieces to be styled for all occasions and lifestyles.
